ABOUT IHC
I Hate Cancer was founded to raise money for cancer research and awareness and to provide a place to remember and celebrate those who have lost their battle with cancer.
The I Hate Cancer Foundation, Inc. (IHATECANCER.ORG) emerged to help in the crusade to find a cure for this disease and win this battle once and for all. Monies generated by I Hate Cancer have come through sales of bumper stickers, tee shirts, and other items, as well as through various charity events throughout New England. Several organizations and foundations have and will benefit from the fundraising efforts of I HATE CANCER including: The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, the Skin Cancer Foundation, the Brain Science Foundation, and more.
I Hate Cancer will continue to prosper by one common thread - the passion and support of its friends and donors who want to make a difference. We offer a voice in this awful conflict.
Where too many feel alone - together we form a strong force that will rise up and stand as one.
I Hate Cancer may have stemmed from the strong will of only a few, but with continued help and support those few will become an army.

HISTORY
The I Hate Cancer Foundation was founded on September 28, 2006 after the founder's father, Stanley, suffered a stroke. Further tests proved that the stroke was caused by terminal cancer and the campaign began. According to Blau, "I remember sitting at my desk at work muttering the words over and over again….'I hate cancer. I hate cancer. I HATE CANCER!' At that point, a vision of a black and white bumper sticker that simply said 'I HATE CANCER' ran through my brain." Ruthfield and Bagley joined their friend is his crusade to bring that bumper sticker to locations across the Boston area. In less than a week, hundreds of bumper stickers were created and sold. The I Hate Cancer Foundation celebrated the accomplishment of their brainchild with a donation of $2500 to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. That success sparked an even greater desire to grow the campaign into something gigantic.
The crusade quickly expanded in both monetary gains and support. Initial goals were set at $25,000 in donations for 2007 but exceeded expectations when, by year end, donations totaled $35,330.06. I Hate Cancer formed great relationships with the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Boston), The DFC's Jimmy Fund (Boston), The Skin Cancer Foundation (NYC), and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (Memphis).
Unfortunately, Stanley did not live to see the quick growth. Stanley passed away on March 30, 2007 after a long and difficult six month battle.
I Hate Cancer recently memorialized his passing with a chair in the Dana Farber Auditorium in Boston, MA. "This definitely started out as something to honor my dad. However, it has quickly grown into something much bigger. I Hate Cancer gives people an attitude, a kind of chip on their shoulder. Instead of accepting cancer, people are thinking they have a chance to fight back," says Blau.
