It’s neighborhood against neighborhood as “B4” –
Boston’s-Best-Brunch-Bartender Challenge hits Burton’s Grill
on Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 11:00am – 3:00pm
Neighborhoods such as: The North End, The South End, Back
Bay, Beacon Hill and more, will each have a
representative bartender from a well-known neighborhood
haunt battle it out showcasing their “best brunch inspired
cocktail.”
Sponsored by Absolut Mango and hosted by TV
Diner’s Jenny Johnson, the brunch cocktail submissions will
be judged by a celebrity cocktail panel of judges. All drink
entries will be available on a special 1-day cocktail menu
along with mango inspired brunch specials such as mango
pancakes with fresh fruit in honor of the event sponsor
Absolut Mango.
Besides being crowned the 2009 B4 Champion, with
full bragging rights for the representative bartender’s
neighborhood, the winner will also receive a spot on TV
Diner’s newest segment Drink this! to
showcase their winning drink!
Enjoy amazing food, cocktails and fun! Reservations are
recommended and a percentage of proceeds from all brunch
cocktails will go to I Hate Cancer, a New England based

The Jimmy Fund Auditorium Plaque and Chair Ceremony
November 28th, 2007
One goal for our first year was to gain some authenticity and a way to live up to our ambitious objectives. Early in the year, Dana Farber had mentioned the availability of several chairs in their recently redesigned auditorium. After donating the required $10,000, we finally met our target. The chair was inscribed with not only The I Hate Cancer name, but also the inspiration behind the foundation. The chair reads “In Honor of Stanley Blau the True Inspiration Behind IHATECANCER.ORG”. This chair represents the hard work and dedication of the foundation and its many supporters who made this possible. It also authenticates the Foundation with Dana Farber and the many future supporters who will elevate us to the next level.
Celebrity Chef Challenges
October and November 2007
The Chef Challenges in October and November were a huge success. The first battle featured Executive Chef Richard Vallante from Legal Seafood (www.legalseafoods.com) and Executive Chef Mark Ellis from the Chef’s Table (www.thechefstableonline.com). The late October evening had a Halloween theme - use of the special ingredient: pumpkin. Each chef was required to use pumpkin in their appetizer, main dish, and dessert. The fight went the distance with Chef Mark Ellis finally landing a knockout blow with his amazing dessert.
The second challenge in late November had a Thanksgiving theme and the main ingredient was cranberry. This bout featured Chef Aaron Albrecht from The Capital Grille (www.thecapitalgrille.com) and Chefs Andy McClure and Glenn Comeau from Food by FLIK/Compass Group/Nutter McClennan & Fish LLP. Again the battle was close with Andy and Glenn winning at the bell in the final round.
The evenings had a “fight night” buzz and were a sure “hit” with the crowd. A special thanks to a wonderful set up by Frankie and Gina at District and Melissa Covino’s great back drop. People are already asking about participating in next year’s main event.
